Men and Women of the Folk: Leading by Example Against Modernity
By Kristen Welch, RFU Southern California State Rep
We are living through a time when men and Women are being conditioned to embrace a terrible animosity towards one another. It is up to us as followers of the Folkish path to demonstrate a better way and to lead by example. Where others allow themselves to tear each other down, we strive to build one another up and support our People. As we seek to set that bar higher, we Honor not only ourselves and one another, but also our Ancestors. Each of us is here because a Man and a Woman chose to love one another. They chose to share in that love and joy and bestow the gift of Life unto each of us.
We see these Lokian tricks displayed everywhere: news cycles, court cases, your favorite “based” influencers. Current events would have the masses confounded into hating one another and have us all turn away from what it is to demonstrate true commitment, partnership, and fidelity. Contemporary Western society embraces patterns of elevated divorce rates, forgone marriage or partnerships, widespread acceptance of non-monogamous or casual relationships, and often prioritizes individual autonomy, career propulsion, or self-expression. There is a rising feeling of loneliness and declining trust between the sexes, causing great polarization and animosity throughout the world.
While the Utangard struggles and toils, it is our sacred duty to prioritize durable pair-bonding, mutual respect and investment in one another, and high-valuation of bearing children to carry on our bloodlines. Our Men bear the responsibility of cultivating agency, provision, protection, and emotional steadiness. Our Women bear the duty of developing discernment, a nurturing capacity, and tending to the hearth and home. We are bound to these tasks without turning them into rigid scripts or resentment. Our People have long been revered for their mutual love and respect for one another, something that is so desperately needed in the very sick world that we are living in today.
We must reject this poisonous mindset of chronic victimhood and hedonism. To allow such things to come between our sacred union is to allow decay and rot to fill our ranks. We are not enemies, we are not meant to turn from one another and develop rhetoric used to spew hatred and indecencies. Our Folk provide a wonderful example of what happens when Men and Women share a mutual respect and uplift one another. We make incredible things happen when we remain true and steadfast to our roles and to our Oaths. Take heart in the notion that we set the standard for what it means to have worthwhile, meaningful, and beautiful relationships.
Hail the Men and Women of Raven Folk United!
Hail the Ancestors!
Hail our mighty Gods and Goddesses!
